But atthat moment, with the sketchbook inmyhands and myboss’s quiet words still echoing inmyhead, Ijust felt... seen. Valued. Like Imattered. - Onmyfirst day, Isaw aguy sweeping the floor, and wehad aquick chat during mybreak. Later, Imet the plant manager. When hewalkedin, Iwas stunned: itwas the same guy.
“Wait, Ithought you were the janitor!” Isaid. Helaughed and said, “Nope, IsaidI sweep the floors and take out the trash. Wedon’t have ajanitor. Weall keep our spaces clean—and the common areas too.”
The room went quiet. Everyone respected him right away. Hewasn’t above the work. Hewas one ofus.
