But here's where it gets interesting: the box office champions varied across provinces. While "Back to the Past" dominated in Guangdong, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" took the lead in eight regions, including Beijing and Shanghai. The rest of the country seemed to favor "Zootopia 2."
The top five films of the New Year's Day holiday were a diverse bunch: "Zootopia 2," "Avatar: Fire and Ash," "The Fire Raven," "Back to the Past," and "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants."
