Bold opulence from old Hollywood meets contemporary Gucci design at a star-studded Los Angeles premiere. Miley Cyrus chose a silhouette and sparkle that unmistakably nod to timeless glamour, donning a Gucci creation from Demna’s inaugural vision as the house’s artistic director for the event screening of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Monday night.
The Grammy-winning performer—whose new track “Dream as One” is featured on the film’s soundtrack—wore a striking black strapless gown. Its bodice shimmered with an allover sequin embroidery and a sweetheart neckline, while a drop waist gave way to a voluminous tulle skirt. The skirt’s layers created a cascading effect, accented by a bow and a trailing train as Cyrus moved along the red carpet.
Accessorizing with delicate jewelry—pairing a dainty necklace with matching earrings—Cyrus added extra sparkle to the ensemble. Her hair was styled with a centered part and abundant volume, with soft curls flowing down the back, completing the look curated by stylist Bradley Kenneth.
Cyrus’s dress originates from Demna’s debut Gucci collection, titled “La Famiglia,” which presents a cast of characters clad in the house’s luxury designs under the new creative direction. Demna spoke to WWD in September about the opportunity to shape a fresh Gucci vision that leverages the brand’s distinctive codes while introducing his personal creative approach. “It’s not about drawing inspiration from Gucci’s ’60s ready-to-wear,” he explained. “It’s about the mindset—the Gucciness of Gucci.”
Avatar: Fire and Ash marks the third chapter in James Cameron’s epic saga. The film follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their family as they confront the rival Na’vi faction, the Ash People, while Pandora’s fate hangs in the balance. The movie is set to hit theaters on December 19."}
